ABOUT

1879 The Seraphim - Lobophora halterata.

Seems to be a very local and thinly distributed species in Derbyshire. Appears to favour sites of ancient woodland, especially if the wood has Aspen. Very few Derbyshire records and most modern day records come from the Trent Valley region of South Derbyshire. Easily identified by the prominent dark grey cross-band across the base of the fore-wing.
On the wing from mid-May to mid- June.

Food plant - Aspen, Black Poplar and sometimes other poplar species.
